MOSAIC

Global displacement monitor

Country-level present IDP figures from the IOM DTM public API, with round-to-round change computed inside each country's primary DTM operation. Change is not evidence of conflict escalation. A recorded figure can move because populations moved, because assessment coverage changed, or both.

Calculation
Raw rows, disaggregated by displacement reason and origin, are summed to a national present-IDP figure per operation and round. Momentum compares the latest round with the preceding round of the same operation.

Known limitations

  • Assessment cadence differs by country and operation, so momentum values are not comparable across countries without accounting for the interval between rounds.
  • Figures may be estimates derived from key informants and secondary sources rather than exact enumeration.
  • A country covered by several concurrent operations is represented by one of them, not by their sum.
  • Boundary geometry is drawn at 110m resolution and is illustrative. It carries no analytic weight.
Displacement Momentum is the proportional change in present IDP individuals between an administrative unit's latest comparable DTM assessment round and the preceding round within the same DTM operation. Bands are MOSAIC-defined monitoring thresholds, not IOM classifications. A momentum value is not computed where a baseline is missing or zero.

MOSAIC-derived indicator. Not an IOM classification.

Largest reductions and return signalsMOSAIC-derived

A fall in recorded present IDPs may reflect return, onward movement, or a narrowing of assessment coverage.
